Maïa Hirsch (born November 13, 2003) is a French basketball player who plays for the Minnesota Lynx of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA).

Biography[edit]

Hirsch trained at Roannais Basket Féminin, and joined the Federal Basket-Ball Center in 2018.[1] She stayed there for a year before returning to play at theRoanne club which plays in NF1 and of which her father, Olivier Hirsch, is the coach.

She stayed for two years in Roanne before joining the Charnay club playing in LFB for the 2021-22 season.[2] She had a rather successful individual season, averaging 7.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in 20 minutes. But her team finished last in the regular season then last in the play-downs and was therefore relegated to LF2.[3] Maïa Hirsch does not stay at Charnay and signs up with Villeneuve-d'Ascq for the 2022-2023 season which, having finished second in the regular season, participates in the 2022–23 EuroLeague Women.[4]

On April 10, 2023, during the 2023 WNBA draft, she was selected in the first round, in 12th position, by the Minnesota Lynx, in a draft in which three French players were chosen.
